Sharing Files From Computer to Computer over internet?

I have followed a tutorial online and have setup the live id on the user account of mine and my girlfriends computers. Then shared the folders needed with the correct live id, but I don't have a clue how to access the files from over the internet?

Can someone tell me what to do please?

is it possible to share files over the internet? the same way files are shared over the home network?

Yes it's possible but it's not the same way as network shares on the LAN, the tutorial explains how pretty well. I havn't tried this myself so I can't tell you exactly how it's done. That is what the tutorials are for.

Skydrive is another solution as long you have Live ID's. Might be a little easier to set up.

I followed the tutorial tho, and i tried sharing video files with my girlfirends windows live id, but the file is not showing on skydrive when she logs in
