Hello

I'm having a problem sharing WiFi internet I'm getting on my laptop with my desktop PC. I've used a simple TPLink router to connect these 2 computers and created a homegroup which works OK except I can't share internet there. The troubleshooting returns "The DNS server not responding". I tried to change the TCP/IP from auto to the router address, the connection goes to "unidentified" right away. Is there a clear step by step instruction what I should do?

Thank you

Try auto IP settings but use 8.8.8.8 (the only DNS address I can remember :p) as DNS server. If it works you can change DNS to whatever you want to use later.

Also try to ping an Internet IP from the problem PC.

Still not working. Troubleshooter says 'unable to connect to primary DNS'. Also I noticed that for some reason my wi-fi connection is missing the sharing tab (where I'm supposed to enable other users to connect to internet). This tab exists on my LAN connection. Any ideas?

Try this software (it is free and easy to set-up) mHotspot | Turn your Laptop into WiFi Hotspot

Install on the PC that you want to share Internet.

How to use mHotspot:

1. Enter any name of your choice as hotspot name.
2. Choose a password of minumum 8 chars.
3. Select your active internet connection from the drop-down list of connections.
4. Set the maximum number of clients that can be connected to the hotspot.
5. Click start hotspot to start your own personal wifi hotspot.

Thank you, I've installed this software, might be useful in the future.

The issue however has been finally resolved simply by bridging 2 network connections with some tweaks with IP and DNS.
