Hello everyone!

Well i just got a problem today, the thing is me and my bro are in LAN,sharing ADSL 4mb(512Upload) connection.
Eh well ill just make an example,ie Im playing some online game while his downloading/watching videos online, ofc i get laggs when that happens, now we are trying to solve our problem, tho im not sure how.
We want to split connection into 2mb for me and 2 for him,so when i download something with my 2mb he doesnt gets laggs,is that possible?
Ive heard about a software called netlimiter, tho i have no expiriance whatsoever with it,so im calling out here for help from the pros :D

is there any solution for my problem?
tnx!

If you install Net Limiter you can limit the download/upload speed of that computer.

You need to take use of the QOS either in your computer or the router itself. Quality of Service. That will push more bandwidth to program of your choice or even a computer.

Trust me, when I download programs it will make my typical 59 ping jump all the way to 999 to the point where my game is unplayable online.

If your router does not support QOS, then you can configure each computer to use certain bandwidth for certain things.

The facts are that your IPS is providing you with limited bandwidth, if your bro is downloading torrents and streaming videos there is no way your going to be gaming without lag. Even with my fast Broadband connection after 3-5 torrents it slows down my entire network and there isn't a much I can do about it unless I limit the up and download speeds of the torrents, even that is a compromise. Streaming takes some major bandwidth also so will slow down your network just as easily.

On a brighter note, you can click on Utorrent in the taskbar and limit the download and upload speeds if you don't mind waiting longer to get the files. You might find a setting that will allow other machines in the network to game without much lag.
