sharing printer on xp with laptop with w7

I have an Acer 5740 laptop with w7, also an older desktop with XP which has a BJC80 printer attached via parallel. The laptop is wireless to D-Link DIR 600 router, the desktop is wired to same router.
Can anyone help me link all so I can print from laptop wirelessly?
I have basic understanding re computing but simple directions reduce the angst.
Help greatly appreciated.

If your printer can be see in your router's client table then it should be able to have an IP associated to it allowing it to be available on the network, I don't think you can do it any other way w/o purchasing a network hub that would have software allowing both PC's to access it, one at a time. I assume you do have a Home Network setup and allow sharing of devices?

I don't know of the routers' client table. Both computers can connect to Internet at the same time, as the router is connected to a cable modem

Go to the Router Admin which is generally done by typing the router's IP in a browser, this will give you access to the router's client table list and you can add the IP you wish to remain as static and should keep it this way.

When I tried to do this with my new Win 7 machine and my old XP I got the message that all PCs in the Homegroup need to be running Win 7 and I couldn't add the old XP. Both PC's are wired to a Modem/Router!
