Sharing stops working for some users and have to reboot

Hi

I have a 64bit Windows 7 PC with the whole family’s data on it. Each member of the family has a local user account setup on the PC and share promotions set. The family members PC has a local account with the same name and same password. They are running XP.

The problem I have is, that most of the time all the shares are working but randomly the XP PC’s will stop being able to access any of the shared folders. To fix the issue I have to reboot the Windows 7 PC and then the XP PC’s are able to access the shared folders again.

I have a Windows 7 Laptop and I never have any problems accessing my shared folder of the main PC.

Any help with this issue would be most welcome

Does this seem to happen just randomly? or are the other users making changes to the files prior to this issue?

It seems to be random. some time it happens when users are using there shared folders and some time they come to use there PC's and find they cant access them.
