Hello guys.
I'm looking for some tools which give me the option to enable the sharpness om my lcd tv
My videocard is GTX 285 and there is no option for sharpness. My LCD TV ( 32 inch full HD ) got this option but i cant acces it because i rename it the HDMI port to "pc"
If i leave it HDMI without to rename, i can acces the sharpness, but whatever i do, the text looks crap.
With this HDMI option, set to "PC" the text looks great, but i only want to reduce a bit the sharpness.
Is there some tools / thir party apps /software / for that ?!
Thanks in advance.

I found a solution for the text, at least on Mozilla Firefox. But not for Windows Explorer.
With an addon like this :
Mac OSX Font Rendering for Windows Based Browsers - userstyles.org
everything looks much much better

I wish i could find a solution like that, for Windows 7, but i think thats nearly impossible
Did someone here try this ?[GDI++ Alternative] Smooth Fonts Like Mac in Windows [GDIpp] - YouTube
Thank you.

First try setting the sharpness on the TV to zero. This enhancement is generally for less than perfect signals coming into the set. A signal coming out of the HDMI port on a GPU is superior to almost anything out there. Try that and let us know the results. There are a few other things that can be done, but start there.

Thanks for your advice.
Did you read my first post on this thread ?
I try to explain again :
My LCD TV i use it as a pc monitor, with a cable HDMI-DVI.
The input HDMI 1, i rename it to PC, on the tv menu.
It looks much better now ( text, fonts ) but i cant understand why i have no acces to SHARPNESS / TINT / COLOURS + a lot of options from Advanced Control.
If i leave only HDMI without rename it PC, i can access all of them, but the text looks horrible.
Is there a trick to let me acces those 3 options + other ones from Advanced Control, after the HDMI is set / renamed to PC ? In this case ( HDMI as pc mode ) the text / letters / looks awesome and i could access / modify some sharpness / colors / tint , if i want.
Should i try to go into Service Menu, to see if i can change some menu options ? I know is danger, i can lose the warranty, or damage the TV
But if i know thats working, i´d give it a try. I need to access some options after the HDMI is as pc mode, especially Sharpness function.

Yes I did, since you did not specify which way you went on the sharpness scale, I have recommended setting it to zero. Leave the settings on the HDMI input at the factory settings, other than the sharpness and report back.

Actually, after a bit of research, for Samsung, the best setting is the "PC" setting, which you say you have already selected. I am sorry for not realizing you had a Samsung.

Have you tried setting the sharpness within the Nvidia control panel?

I do not have Samsung.
In the Nvidia control panel this function doesent exist on my videocard which is GTX 285.

I think that you will be restricted to your findings with the TV set to PC. I will check on something later for you and post back, could be tonight. But as far as changing anything further in the TV, the "PC" setting is an optimized setting for using the TV as a monitor. You should not "need" to change anything beyond that in the TV.

Well I have a older Samsung and I don't have a "PC" setting as such. I do have a VGA port that is listed as PC but that's not HDMI and is not better. Maybe your referring to something on newer Samsungs.

The input HDMI 1, i rename it to PC, on the tv menu.
It looks much better now ( text, fonts ) but i cant understand why i have no acces to SHARPNESS / TINT / COLOURS + a lot of options from Advanced Control.
I can set the name to PC so it shows as "HDMI2 PC" (using HDMI port 2) which sounds like all your doing.
EDIT: Although this would make no difference to the appearence if that's all it does.

I can't adjust a lot of my setting including my sharpness unless my resolution is set to one under "HD,SD" in the NVidia Control Panel, eg. 1080p, 720p. If it's set to any of the resolutions under "PC" then it's a no go.

I also don't have a sharpness setting in the NVidia Control Panel either.

EDIT: I don't use DVI though, straight HDMI to HDMI. This may be a reason too.

HDMI settings are limited, period. The FCC's standards prevent a majority of the modifications that you would be able to make with a monitor. On some older GPUs, you were able to use an adapter to connect video signal via component cables. This connection allowed for much more modifications. Using DVI and HDMI, or any derivative thereof, is going to limit what you can change.

EDIT:If you want to learn more about restrictions set forth by the FCC, just Google FCC and HDMI or DVI.

Well havn't read anything to do with the FCC I just accepted it as I personally don't have a problem.

As I said, under the "HD,SD" resolutions I do have full control of my TV settings so if stereo does he may find this a sutible solution. If 1080p is to small for reading he could try playing around with the DPI settings but I find 720p is too low of a resolution.
