Shift Key problem

Ok well my dad did something on my pc which made the following changes...
pressing left shift and any other number instead of making the signs runs up programs that are pinned in the taskbar in that order...and left shift and p brings out some screen options instead of capital p
pressing right shift when on a webpage makes me go a page back....

i checked for the sticky keys and toggle keys but they were turned off...
what can be the problem or is it time for a new keyboard...

i dont notice any problems with the other keys but i dont use any other key as much as the shift key..

so i did some snooping around and found the left shift key is doing some functions that the windows button does...
but not all of them...so is there any tool by which the windows key is replaced by the shift key???

ah well a little banging was all that the keyboard needed....looks like i need to buy a new one...
