Hi for the past several days, I have been having a Shimmering Monitor on my Dell Desktop- Vostro 430. I can't correct this problem. Has anyone experienced that Problem? How to fix? TIA, Ed Weidman:confused:

Could be the monitor itself. I take it this is a LCD monitor, YES? Must be.

Then it could be the fluorescent tube that back lights the screen is going bad.

Thanks Shootist for your Reply. Is there any test to check the fluorescent tube? Ed Weidman

None that I know of. But if you load up the BIOS setup screen and you still get the flickering I would suspect the tube since there are no drivers or resolution settings involved while viewing those pages. Just the basic VGA support all video card have built in.

You could also connect that monitor to a different PC and if you get the same result then it is the tube.
