Short Audio Dropouts Windows 7-64 bit/MCE

Im trying to solve why I am having short audio dropouts (2-3 seconds)when playing audio and video thru MCE. My system uses Win 7/64 bit with SPDIF audio output to an Onkyo amp. I do not get the dropouts when using the analog pc speakers. I am using Shark007's codecs and have previously used K-Lite. I am not using streaming to retrieve the files from a NAS etc. Drivers are up to date.
This only happens when I use SPDIF passthrough and with video there is no pausing of the video during the dropout. I have done a latency check and there is no problem with that.

I'd be greatful if anyone can help.

Thanks Shark, for your codec pack work and reply. I did as your post sugests and it has very greatly reduced my dropouts. As a matter of fact, I only had one and that was playing an mp3 (normally im playing wmv or m4a). Is there another setting I could use to try eliminating the problem with them?

OH well. They have come back again. Is there anyone out there who has more ideas?
