Shortcuts behave differently depending on how you execute them

I am using Windows 7.

I have a shortcut to Remote Desktop Connection on my desktop. If I double click on this shortcut it will always open a new instance. However if I use the shortcut key to execute this shortcut it will only open a new instance if no other instances are running.

The same happens with shortcuts to HTA applications, however applications developed in C++ or C# do not have this problem.

Why should it be any different HOW you access a shortcut? :huh:

Another strange problem. I press the shortcut key and nothing happens sometimes, I have to restart Windows. In order to ensure that an application is not catching my key stroke I click on the desktop first. What in the world is wrong with shortcuts in Windows 7, they are so unreliable now.
