Shortcuts no longer work

Hi and thanks for all of the help in advance.

I was attempting to open a file and was required to choose what program opened that particular file. I accidentally picked Adobe reader as the default program and now all my shortcut icons look like Adobe icons and whenever I try to open a shortcut it opens Adobe instead of the normal program.

Please Help.
