Should I be worried? Two queries

Ok. So I have two queries, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was going through my event log when I found an entry. Below is a part of what worried me:

New Logon:
Security ID: ANONYMOUS LOGON
Account Name: ANONYMOUS LOGON
Account Domain: NT AUTHORITY

'Anonymous' sounds rather ominous, should this ring any alarm bells?

My next problem: Yesterday, I right clicked Windows Explorer and found a folder in the recent list that I had never seen before. When I clicked it, the missing shortcut ("to locate the file yourself, click browse"; the folder was not on the desktop, where it was supposed to have been located) window appeared.

Just to be safe, I also ran malware/spyware/AV scans and everything came up clean. I also removed it from the list of recent folders opened in Windows Explorer. However, today when I went on the computer again, it reappeared in my recent list and it remains to be seen on my desktop. Can someone explain this?

I wish I could help you, morphemes, but I've never encountered the issue(s) you present.

However, there are many wonderful, capable and intelligent members on this forum that might be able to provide further insight.

Can you post another image showing the path of the folder? Try going to the "view" tab in "folder options" and select "show hidden files and folders" Click OK to exit and save. See if the folder appears on your desktop.

Addendum: from the properties tab, the folder has 0 bytes and no created/modified/accessed stats.

Hi mborner, thanks for your response. I tried that, but nothing has popped up on the desktop.

AFAIK, anonymous logons may be caused by network accesses or when a service starts up among other things, they are null sessions in the sense that credentials are not supplied (so they are not user initiated). I doubt they are related to any hacker activity but it would help if you can upload the entire text of the event.

For the folder problem try running CCleaner, or if that doesnt help try deleting in safe mode.
