Super slow writes. There are cheaper options available with better read/write balances. Like this Kingston drive for $80 after rebate:

But, if slow write speeds aren't a concern for you, it's not a bad option.

I don't know about the slow writes and you won't either. OS installations are all about 4kb reads and access times. That is what you buy an SSD for. I have 2, 1 on 2 different machines and have not noticed any slow writes and get 7.9 in WEI.

That's a steal wish it was a little Biger it would be sweet

Set it up right and it doesn't need to be bigger. While I don't play games and have them installed, I have half the space free on mine. Windows 7 takes up about 16GB. You can install a lot of apps on the 40GB that is left.

The Seq. Read/Write speeds mean very little to nothing for the OS.

I have my OS on a 40GB Intel, which was advertised with Seq. 175Read/40Writes.
My OCS Vertex had Seq. 230Read/100 write speeds.

If looking at advertised specs, you would think the OCZ was the faster drive.When in reality, its the complete opposite. The Intel was faster by a good margin.


As mentioned, 4k is what you should be looking at, as thats what matters.
The advertised Seq. are just marketing for the most part.

Wishmaster, +1. I have 2 Crucials, an Intel X25 80GB and a Vertex2 90GB. They all advertise very different speeds, but in actual use, you have to look very hard to tell a difference.

Here are my 3. The total score really means nothing. The most important thing is the access times. If you can notice the difference in .1ms, then you are a better man than me. The write times mean nothing, just access times and 4kb reads.

To you. That doesn't mean it doesn't matter to anyone else for their application, or at all. For instance, writes very much matter in a workhorse server or on someone's workhorse media machine. You should try not to apply your logic as fact because people can get the incorrect impression.

The controller is one of the most integral parts of the SSD in determining performance. This is why you can see two drives listed with the same write/read speeds but have vastly different performance.
