Should I enable Indexing on C: D: E:/USB 3.0, Explorer on Taskbar?

For reasons I don't remember I disabled indexing on C: (system), slave D:/ E: (mostly Macrium Reflect backups), from the Explorer HD GUI, Before installing Win7 Pro,-
I noticed some applications are slow..., wondered if I should re-enable indexing on which drives/partitions..., and in what order...?

-I also disabled indexing on my USB 3.0 slave HD (mostly Macrium Reflect backups for desktop (rarely used)/laptop (frequently used) on separate partitions))), in the belief that it would would work better...?-
Should I re-enable indexing on USB 3.0, what partitions, and in what order...?

-When installing Windows I removed the Explorer icon from the taskbar (seemed to slow startups?), as Windows/E is very fast-
I'm now wondering if this icon on taskbar is Necessary, and should I place a shortcut back on the taskbar?

I keep indexing on my C partition only. I see no need to index back ups. If your system was indexed when you made the backup then at that time your backups were indexed.

A icon on the desktop or taskbar should have no change in speed or anything else. It's the same icon doing the same thing just from a different location.

I have Indexing disabled on all drives and also disable the Windows Search service. I never search my hard drives for content within a file so I use Everything Search for locating files and folders.

Definite performance gain running this way.

Not for everyone but works well for me.

My systems also include Everything Search. It's a great little program.
