Running W7 Home Premium on Dell 64-bit desktop.

My son sends me movie clips in .mov format from his iPhone5. They are upside down. He tells me they play fine using Quicktime on his Lenovo. Says I should install Quicktime Player.

Do you forsee any problem with doing that? My system is very stable and I am reluctant to mess it up.

Thanks, cb

I see no problem with it. Go here and just click "Download Now":

https://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/

Don't do anything else on this page other than simply clicking this button. When the installer is done downloading, double-click it (or you might be able to open it from your browser as soon as it's done downloading).

Inside the installer, you'll only have to do this:

  1. Click Next
  2. Click Yes (License Agreement)
  3. Make a decision about if you want Desktop shortcuts and if you want an automatic updater for QuickTime
  4. Click Install
Once it's installed, you should be all set.

Hi abredt,

You can definitely install QuickTime player as suggested by TwoCables which should resolve this issue.

However, if you are reluctant to install the same let us know which video player and version you are using so, we can check if there are any fixes available for the current video player only.

If you have any further queries, please feel free to contact us.

It is totally no problem to install the quicktime player and it would not hurt your system, just download it according to the url list by TwoCables, or there is another way, install some free video converter like this (both mac and windows supported)and convert the videos to some formats which your current players support.

Quicktime is a bloated program and unnecessary just to play .mov files. QuickTime Lite , which replaced Quicktime alternative is more then sufficient. Also, most video players only need a codec and not the full Quicktime certainly. A Guy
