Should I install Win 10?

I have heard w10 is a beta and only we are given free upgrade so that M$ can get info from our PC in telemetry to send our PC info to MS...so we do all the work is why its free to upgrade. MS is making motherboard manufacturers make new MB's to not be able to install win7 so you are forced to install win10. So many problems with win10 on the internet forums. When my PC hardware dies looks like I will be forced to install win10 if I buy a new PC. Should I install win10 now or wait till FULL complete version that is reliable as win7 is ???????? And when will win10 be ready to trust ??????

Windows Ten is not a Beta product. There are Beta Versions of the next release version available for testing, for Free, if a user wants them

The free upgrade offer finished a long time ago

Microsoft has not forced motherboard manufacturers to do anything, the motherboards have advanced but there are no plans to update Windows 7 to suit, Windows 7 is in Extended support so does not receive any New options which is normal for a system approaching End of Life.

There have been some issues with running Windows 10 on older hardware as there was with all previous Operating Systems, It's about the same as I remember at the release of Windows 7, but no where near the problems of XP

You can decide to purchase a copy of Windows ten and load it onto your existing hardware or wait until you have to replace your current hardware, only you can decide

Yep pretty much
10 does a lot of things in the back ground that are uncontrollable
And if you do start to tame the unnecessary/ unwanted tasks from doing their things 10 throws a fit becoming completely unstable.
The most recent that I noticed is the insistence to use a MS account the message 10 works best if you do use a MS account is a nice add-on

I've been using Win 10 since it was in Beta (called the Insider Preview) starting in Oct 2014. It was released in July 2015 with the free offer upgrade available until July 2016. In Aug 2016, the first major update was released (Anniversary update). MS is readying the next major update for the OS which is rumored to be released spring 2017.

Throughout all of the releases and test versions I have used, I have found Win 10 to be very stable. I have it running on 2 desktops, 2 laptops and a tablet with no issues on any of them. As far as older equipment, I installed Win 10 on an older Acer netbook that originally came with Win XP and it ran fine there.

This forum is mainly comprised of those individuals that have decided, for whatever reason, that they will stick with Win 7. It's doubtful you will find many here that will tell you to move on to Win 10.

It's still possible to do the upgrade for free (legitimately) so, if you want to try it and decide for yourself, do a system backup of your current hdd, do the upgrade and try it. If you don't like it, restore from your backup and go back to Win 7.

You have win 7 ult, the best Windows ever made.

You can make a test drive.
Put on a spare disk, detach ALL other HDD / SSD and do a Win 10 Clean install.
As you have Win 7 Ultimate, install Win 10 Pro. Use your Win 7 Ultimate key when asked.

The quirk in buying a machine now days is if the manufacture blocks or makes drivers for win-7
I'd say laptops/ notebooks would be the toughest to install 7 on those but a desktop those are more flexible

Kabylake processors are the unknown ones at this point
Just ask the manufacture before buying
7 rules I'll be on it for the foreseeable future 10 offers really nothing I need or want.

10 is not horrible, per se. It just doesn't play nice with some engineering and CAD/CAM software, though I suspect that is the fault of the software designers more than Win 10 itself. Though, it seems that Microsoft keeps breaking things like Outlook and Excel every time they update Win 10.

I was forced to switch at work, but I won't switch at home until I buy my new Kaby Lake CPU sometime next year. I still prefer Seven's look and feel.

I guess one more opinion won't sway people one way or the other. I went from a stable Windows 98 to Windows XP. I remember a really steep learning curve as well as getting used to new graphics and where to find familiar programs. I swore I'd never upgrade again.

Few years later I went from a very stable XP to 7 and faced yet another steep learning curve and operating system demons. Eventually 7 became rock solid and handled everything I threw at it. Great OS. I decide to skip 8 and 8.1 and waited for 10's release. Once again I had new graphics and a huge learning curve. I'm still learning about 10, but gol durn it, it works. Dare I say almost as good as 7.

I am of the firm belief that each new 10 build solves an issue or two facing many users. No, it doesn't solve every issue because of the unique and plentiful computer configurations out there. Throw in some other software company (like Malwarebytes) that is also trying to release a new and improved product with numerous documented major issues and utter chaos can reign.

I think many people are scared of the installed telemetry and what personal info will get sent to Microsoft. Personally, if they get excited knowing I visit Seven Forums or Ten Forums, or the Yahoo1 home page, they need some serious counseling. So I dug around and found an app that might solve telemetry issues. It's call "DoNotSpy10" and seems to cover every concern one might have. I have no monetary stake in the product and I've been using it for a couple of months. It does exactly what it claims to do.

Make a full system image of your perfect Windows 7 and put it in a save place. Install 10 and give it a try. you might be pleasantly surprised. If you still hate !0 or DoNotSpy you can roll back your machine to Windows 7 in about 30 minutes. Be bold. Be brave. Be strong. And enter the dark abyss. :roflmao:

On Win 10:
- A lot of things are different, like settings and Control panel, start menu, app etc.
- If it was so good to M$ to exchange Win 7 and win 8 to Win 10 for free, M$ is making profit from something they take from you.
- Don't like the idea of being spy by M$ and sharing MY data with any one. Apple and Google does the same. I don't care about what OS X or Android do as I don't have it on MY computer.

I've seen a lot of things on Win 10 that I don't like, and as Jack mentioned, 10 offers really nothing I need or want.
