MSI R7970 TF 3GD5/OC BE Radeon HD 7970 3GB Twin Frozr OC Boost Edition 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card - Newegg.com

I bought this for about $225 on sale used a while back.

I am thinking I could sell it for about $200. I'm wondering if I should sell it or not.

Here's why I'm thinking about selling it:

1: It's so big. While it did install in my machine it barely fits. It makes any work on my pc harder to do. It measured at 10'' when most other cards measure around 8'' or so.

2: I play the Sims 4, Elder Scrolls Online, Diablo 3, and Skyrim. I want to max out as much as I can. I have a 3.0 GHZ Quad Core AMD Processor and 8 GB of ram. I feel like my PC can only go so far, and getting a video card like this is just overdoing it.

3: I feel like I can get similar performance, and a BRAND NEW video card for around $150. Then I can sell this used for $200.

I have no idea big differences between video cards. I still want to max out these games that I play. I would prefer a smaller card but I Want to get the best value.

I see cards like this

ASUS GTX750TI-OC-2GD5 GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB 128-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready Video Card - Newegg.com

Honestly I don't know what makes a video card great. But if I can get the same performance for my needs and max out my games anyway, why not make a little money and get a brand new card (for reliability purposes) and also get a smaller easier to work with card.

Honestly though. I'm willing to deal with the size if you all think I have the best thing for my needs. I want to get the best bang for my buck out of my machine, but I don't want to waste value that I'm not using, and I wouldn't mind getting a new card.

Anyone have any suggestions, whether it's keeping the card, or any good black friday deals I should take advantage of to get a GREAT bang for my buck, and then sell this one?

One more thing. I'm a big "wheeler and dealer". I know some people sell console games at game stop for convenience, I don't. I buy and sell things all the time. I normally get a pretty fair value, so try to base your advice less on your preferences on if you would sell an item, and more on what value I could use/get. Especially with black friday here TODAY

I think you should sell your card and go with NVIDIA.

I already bought the 760. It's a little bit smaller, and you convinced me. 3 year warranty, brand new card, and the performance from all the reviews I've read would give me equal performance to what I have, maybe better, maybe a little worse, but either way I'd get great performance and a 3 year warranty for about the same price. With a smaller card. Appreciate the suggestion!

PS: Newegg ran out right when I tried to order! I convinced amazon to price match though. Tried to go into best buy but they don't price match black friday (and it was a slightly different model technically anyway)

The 760 you posted ran out. If you click the link on a pc it says "not available" and it shows a similar item below it for $260 (it was selling at $194)

If you open the link from a phone it acts like the item is there. When you add to cart it then says it is out of stock.

Of course in newegg chat I was in the 2 and a half hour wait time, and amazon price matched in the chat and also gives 2 day shipping with prime. So I'm okay.

I appreciate you :)

The 7970 is faster than most GTX760 models, so I'd not sell for a loss, then buy a lesser performing GPU...

AnandTech | The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 Review: Featuring EVGA

At some point, you will need to realize that your current AMD quad core at 3GHz will absolutely be holding back your performance to any res below 2560x1600....; I'd consider an upgrade to some sort of i5/socket 1150 model.....

I bought the one he listed above. I originally bought this card used. Honestly I might consider upgrading my processor in the future.

I just wanted to the closest card to that, that I could with agreat warranty. I also wanted a slightly smaller card. This card is smaller, a little easier to work with and will give me a 3 year warranty. I bought this card used over ayear ago. From what he told me he was using this card quite a bit. So to me I'll get a brand new card with a 3 year warranty for almost the same money, and get a smaller card.

This 3.0 is already an upgrade from my old 2.4.

I play Diablo 3, elder scrolls online, Sims 4, and skyrim and all of these had great frame rates on the 760.

I understand most people would be better off with the card I currently have. But I think with the games I play, the value I put on size, and the value I put in the warranty it fits me perfectly.

Really appreciate the feedback though. Already got the 760 on its way. Got it for a great deal with.black Friday/cyber Monday. . $195 with a $20 rebate.

So assuming you get $200 for your card and get a new 760 for $280, we are out $80, and, for a resultant 5-10% decreased framerates at 1920x1080, (19% less performance at 1440P) but, the card is smaller, and new.

(I just can't really follow the reasoning behind this 'upgrade', but, good luck with your purchase)

See, it was black Friday/cyber Monday. I got it for $195 with a $20 rebate. So I should break even in the end. It definitely wouldn't have been worth it at $280
