Solved should I upgrade to Windows 10?

I read on the CNET site that one should not install 10 right away, but wait until you get feedback on how well it is working and when all the bugs are worked out of 10. So I would wait for the reviews to come in. As Windows 8 and 8.1 were for the most part rejected by the computing community, then will Windows 10 be a fix for the Windows 8 general failures ? Or just the same thing with the same issues Windows 8 had with only minor fixes ? You might search for "Windows 10 Reviews" as 10 was released to a number of I assume experienced users for testing. Eventually Microsoft will no longer support operating systems below Windows 10......in time. XP is no longer supported. 7 will be supported for awhile, and then it will not be supported. I am considering using Windows 7 after it is no longer supported. What I would lose would be any updates. I am not jumping to Windows 10 until I get feedback on it. I am joining a local computer club so I can get a real, hands on experience with 10. Sorry for the lengthy post and it is a difficult decision to have to make.

I've been running Win 10 since October, testing all the preview releases. Each one has improved, sometimes dramatically.

The current 10240 build (most likely the release build) is very stable and everything I need it to do it does well. I had not planned on upgrading this computer, the one I use all the time, but after testing for so long I will now upgrade. I like 10 just as I like 8.1.

If you wait for all the bugs to be fixed you'll never upgrade as all the bugs will never be fixed.

What you could do is run Win 10 10240 as a virtual client under Oracle VirtualBox or VMWare, to play with it and see if you like itt or not.

I have a weird mouse problem in my W10 b10240 VM (in-place upgrade).

I have to start the Guest OS and then reboot it before the mouse will operate.
This didn't happen with any of the other W10 previews.

I've worked in software development for nearly 40 years and I guarantee there are hundreds of bugs in Windows (or any software product). We have weekly triage meetings where we examine the bugs in our bug database and make decisions regarding which bugs have priority over other bugs based on their severity and the likeliness of a user encountering the bug. We have bugs that have been in our database for years but are deemed to be such low priority that they will probably never be addressed. We also often purge bugs that we decide aren't practical to fix.

Is there such a thing as good bugs or are they all bad bugs?

A bug is when a program behaves in a way not designed by the developer. In theory this could be good but the odds against it are very long.

I did product development for a TV manufacturer who is no longer in the TV manufacturing business and found numerous bugs in the software. That was my job amongst other things like soldering 256 flat pack chips on modules and taking them on and off for different cuts of the IC eg Version 1,2,3 etc, Using a LAB computer to program modules with the latest versions of the code which were written by the software engineers. One good one was on channel change to a blank channel the screen would get a purple tint then green then go neutral greyscale like it should have. My manager at the time was very pleased with my bug report but that one was never fixed. Deemed way too expensive and when someone looks at a blank channel they expect the picture to wander around.
The best one I came up with was a five button key press winch powered off the TV and it would not come back on until the micro (CPU)reset by unplugging power from the unit for 10 mins as there was a back up memory for the guide module. That was called a showstopper.
One of the best I cannot talk about as I signed a non disclosure agreement but all I can say is watch your buffer over runs they can do amazing damage.
