I am wondering if I should switch to using IE 9, the 64 bit version (from the 32bit one).

Seems like Adobe Flash and Java are now x64 compatible.

Any reason why I should not make the switch?

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 with 12 Gigs if RAM.

You will possibly get a little more performance, but i don't think it is noticable.
Compatibility is better on the 32bit version, though i have no personal experience because i use firefox 5.0
