Below is a snip taken from task manager. The offending process causing this strange processor usage is IE 8 64 bit. All of the tabs open are from sites that I use and visit regularly so I dont think it's a dodgy site or malware.

Any ideas what the problem might be ?

Also I have six instances of iexplore.exe running in processes. I assume it's because I have 6 tabs open. Can anyone confirm this.

Edit: Just to be clear the highlighted process is iexplore.exe at the very top of the page, using 45% of the processor, and NOT spoolserve further down the page.:p

Yes, each tab will and should show. They are using ram etc.

I give you this link to explain spooler, you do not have malware, etc. They are trying to sell stuff.

My eyes are not what they use to be, I think the process that you highlighted was spooler.exe

The highlighted process was iexplore.exe. This is the process giving the strange processor usage.

LOL, it seemed that spooler was highlighed. This is what it is. Of course any process can be a virus in disguise; as shown in this link.
We should all make a regular AV scan and a scan with Malwarebytes.

What I see highlighted is C:Windows\Systems32\spoolsv.exe. My understanding is that when you have more tabs open they are using more of your computers resources. Some tabs that are open will use more resources than others that are open. I have no idea why one would have that many tabs open at one time but as long as your are not getting low on ram you shouldn't have any problems. I agree with richc46, any one of them could have a infection attached to them and to be safe update and run your security programs would be my choice.
