I have an Acer Aspire 5755G with and i7-2670QM 2.2GHz, Nvidia GeForce GT630M 1GB Vram, and 6GB RAM. I know WoW is a very processor heavy game and i thought a quad core i7 would have no trouble running on high graphics, along with a 1GB gfx card, and originally the recommended settings were sitting at high but now all of a sudden it says they're low-fair, and when they're on high the game runs slow. I haven't changed anything as far as i'm aware. Any ideas what's happened?

There was a driver update but surely that would make things better, not worse right?

Not always. Sometimes, just as any other "update" or "patch", it can make it worse. Try going back to an earlier version number of the drivers, and see what happens.

Best bet would be the Graphics driver update as Richardc269 says, if it was working before the update try downgrading and it should be fine.

Most games do not support quad core CPUs. The only one I can think of is battlefield 3. Most games only use 2 cores at most. So in reality unless a game supports it, a 3.5ghz dual core will perform better in game then a 2.2ghz quad core excluding turbo boost.

Try this.

Step #1
Locate where your WorldOfWarcraft is installed.
Vista its in your public folder.
Xp its in Program files.(I dont have a Quad with XP on it, but should be the same)
Step #2
Open your WOW folder and find the "WTF" folder.
Step #3
Open your "WTF" folder and you should have 2 things inside, one folder "Accounts" and a file "Config.wtf"
Step #4
Open the Config.wtf file, use notepad or some other text doc.
Step #5
Once inside fine the line SET ProcessAffinityMask "3" , now change the 3 to 15, save the file and close it.
Step #6
Once you have the file close, right click the file and click on properties, and place a check mark in the read-only box.
This make it so every time WOW starts it does not replace the 15 with a 3.
