Mathesar, that worries me. I have 2 Samsung HD103sj's. I ran tests on both of them. The results were that they write faster than they read, which is quite unusual.

That is interesting although It looks like your SATA controller is performing better than mine overall, my motherboard only has SATA2 ports I guess that could be part of it.
Have you tried running HD Tune Im curious what the standard benchmark looks like for you (the one that shows burst / cpu usage etc.)

I bought a WD My Book 3.0 a while ago. It died recently so I pulled it apart to see if I could rescue the data (I couldn't) It had a Caviar Green 1TB inside. Today I bought a WD Caviar Black 2 TB to replace it. I connected it to the USB 3.0 controller from the external drive. Here is a comparison:
