It's a pretty good size cooler, look at the specs and determine if your case can fit it.

Nope, won't fit. It is 6.25" tall and I have only 4 7/8" of clearance.
Anyone have a suggestion as to what I can use instead ?

+1 to Steve's suggestion even look at the H70 and use you current fan or better yet get a high pressure quiet model !
Corsair CW-9060002-WW Hydro H70 CORE High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler - Socket LGA 1155, LGA 1366, LGA 2011,AM2, AM3, FM1 at TigerDirect

Very nice cooler, the problem is the current fan is only 80mm.
The cooler desc. calls for a 120mm fan.
Any suggestion on which one to get with this ?
Also I think I should change the case fan also. It has a single 80mm fan, no room for anything bigger, ideas ?

All this talk of liquid cooling really shows how far it's come these days.

Back in the day (yes, I can say that :roflmao:) you'd either prefer air cooling or you went the whole nine with a custom loop; all-in-one kits were good for nothing and they were often worse off than entry level air coolers. Bah.

Hmm, I have sox older than you. :p But you're right the first liquid systems were pieces scrounged together and repurposed with skilled ones making their own cold blocks.

Would this work well in my machine ?
Looking to replace the stock cooler with 80mm fan.

It's a pretty good size cooler, look at the specs and determine if your case can fit it.

Nope, won't fit. It is 6.25" tall and I have only 4 7/8" of clearance.
Anyone have a suggestion as to what I can use instead ?

I had the same problem; most of the air coolers that were compatable with my CPU socket were too tall for my case. I found this weird looking bad boy:

003.jpg

It came with a 120mm fan I didn't like the looks of so I replaced it with a 140mm fan without making it any taller.

Besides probably not fitting in my case, I don't trust water coolers yet, even the sealed ones. I've read tales about even the sealed ones spring leaks and ruining systems. I just won't be able to afford to replace this build for a long time

Lady Fitzgerald, thank's for the link. Looks good.
I also like the GeminII M4, I think either one would fit.

How about a case fan now ?
So I can get both at the same time.

Also I agree about the water systems, one bit of a leak scares me.

Sealed Water Cooling solutions have came a LONG way since they first hit the market. Leaks were more common then, but are almost nonexistent now. I imagine they have a leak test, but I wonder how many units are tested before getting shipped out.

My temps ever since I purchased the self contained liquid cooler are insanely low. I do have the window open near my computer, so that does have an impact. With the stock cooler my idle temps would hover around 25 C, it seems I almost halved that with the Thermaltake Pro.

That open window must keep the room the computer is in mighty cool to get those kind of temps.

...How many do you suppose don't overclock?...

At least one...me. I'm more interested in reliability and longevity, not speed.

I knew it was a joke, Kelly. So was I. But Lady Fitzgerald, we'll have you overclocking soon. As long as it's responsible overclocking it won't hurt it. Thats what Intel made the K chips for. There's a reason they put a K behind only a couple of CPUs.
