Is it me noticing a trend when new GPU hardware comes out when using the same Benchmarks we been using the whole time it takes a sick performance hit ?

Maybe it's the drivers they are releasing but i could of sworn a 660 performed better then what i just saw and Nvidia works well in mirrored mode unlike AMD

Bios 2 on mine is called LN2 bios, it allows for a 130% Power target and slightly higher voltage, but I also have some software designed for the EVGA Classified which allows me to run up to 1.35V. It works but of course generates a lot more heat. It's trying to find the right balance.

I know I can score a bit higher in this benchmark, I was sure I did a 2150 point run, but thinking I could go higher I didn't save it. I may have imagined it lol, but I will give it another go soon when I get the time.

Yes LN2 it is ive seen people with 300% power target in this card with bios what they flashed, now i can get power target only 109%.. heat is not problem yet.. not above 70c with high overclocks.. in heaven benchmark.I think you done that 2150 points because u have been ahead me all the time

Cheers mate. In game performance is where it's showing it's strength. Not a massive leap from 670 tri to 780 Ti dual but it's let me nudge up some surround IQ settings into the playable category which is good. I can now play Metro LL at max IQ with SSAA @ 2.0 and keep it above the 30fps mark and playable. Far too jerky before.

Darn Patrick. I'm impressed. Very well done indeed. That has to please you. It's a shame you're going to have to give away those old 670's.

Yeah, the noise/temp+extra Fps has been welcome indeed. The 670s were great cards all right. One's been earmarked as a gift to a mate and another "may" end up in my bro-in-laws PC. The last goes for sale - cheap

Going to have to something one of the cards BIOS'es though. Card 1 sits at 1.12v full load while the 2nd at 1.162v - haven't done much overclocking yet but it's to be holding it back. Might clone the 2nd cards bios and copy it to the first card. I'd prefer that to using a custom BIOS atm.

What's odd is that there's only one card difference in the manufacturing serial. One of em's xxxxxxx89 the other xxxxxx91 - yet completely different BIOS settings :huh:

I can imagine how loud they were as mine are pretty loud too and need to run at near max fan speed's to keep below the 1st throttle point. Those 7 series reference cooler's are very god though and I've known people that planned to water cool change their mind once they'd used them. Can't be bad

The worst noise I had was 4890 crossfire. Now those things were both loud and obnoxious.

I'm quite impressed with the 7 series coolers. Both at max sound just a little nosier than my 580 DCUII at max. Not bad at all. And they aren't hair dryer/jet engine obnoxious either. I'm not surprised people changed their minds about WCing 'em

Yeah I'm lucky I didn't get into pc's until a couple of years ago as I would be going nut's over the noise cards made before then. In comparrison to older card's mine probably aren't that bad but I can't oc them at all really So they need to go...

yeah the HD4000 is the series that made noise cause of the fans before that cards weren't that loud

owned fx5200 fx5600 7300GT HD3870 i bought a 4670 but it killed my rig hence went to AMD phenom

My list isn't all that long either really. I only seriously got back into PC's again around 2008. That's ground up building. Prior to that I was just the odd part re-placer/software frig arounder.

I switched to the xbox/360 when my old PIII rig I had for 7 yrs (with original OS installation) finally died and I was given a Pentium D rig.

But since my first ever ground up build - I've been a shocker. 2x 775, 1x 1366, 2x 1155 in 4 yrs

Riva TNT2 Ultra (first ever $700+ top of the range card back in the day)

4850
4850 CF (need more power)
4890 CF (Christ they were loud like a hair dryer on full in each ear)
5970 (Sick of noise. 1st and last ever x2 card. Never hated a GPU so much. Intro to 3 screen gaming. End of ATI/AMD)
GTX 580 DCUII (restored faith in nvidia. Never had a single issue. Single screen only. Loved the quiet.)
GTX 670 SLI (missed triple screen)
GTX 670 TRI (missed extra performance. Got sick of noise)
GTX 780Ti SLI

Yeah I think I'm well on the way to being a hardware junkie lol, I was planning on getting 2 770's not as an upgrade as such but just to get some better card's but my Mrs twisted my arm to get 780's instead. It really took some twisting too
I've just got to sort the fund's now but hopefully it shouldn't take too long.
