Showing some numbers when doing "right click>properties>security" tab

Hello everyone,

2 week ago i was having trouble opening "my computer" and "network places" properties. Everytime i tried to do right click>properties, i got nothing. I thought my pc got infected so i reinstalled windows 7. Yesterday i did see something when i right clicked application(properties>security) I found something strange that there are some numbers like (S-1-5-21-1884898452........) listed there.

I have attached a screenshot along with this post to make it more clear for you guys.

Help needed.

thanks in advance :)

Those are totally normal Security Identifiers (SID) for various users on your computer. A SID always starts with S-1-5-21, then a unique ID, the last digits telling to what or whom the SID belongs. For instance the built-in administrator account SID ends in all versions of Windows with -500, the Guest account SID with -501, the SID for first user account created when installing Windows with -1000 or -1001 and so on. A SID ending with -5XX or -10XX is always a user profile SID.

To get a complete list of your user profile SIDs, give this command in Command Prompt:
Code:
wmic useraccount get name, sid
This lists all users showing their individual SID:

Hello MaDDonkey, and welcome to Seven Forums.

In addition, the SIDs are for user accounts that are either deleted on the local PC or not currently connected to the network. :)
