Hey all, My computer suddenly takes 3 and a half minutes to shut down, a week ago it would be less than a minute. Whats going on, and how do i fix it.

Also: Win 7 Premium Home Edition 64Bit, 8gb ram, 1 TB HD, AMD Radeon 5770.

Demon,

Hello! I have a link you may be interested in that may help speed your computer up. Were there any recent programs you've installed, or updates? What kind of Antivirus do you use, if I may ask.

In other words, what caused this slow-down to the best of your knowledge?

As DustSailor said, if you've made any changes to your system (like added programs, changed to a different security suite, etc.) it would be helpful to know what those chages were. If you haven't made any changes have you run a full scan with your resident anti-malware? As a second opinion on-demand scanner you could also try the FREE Malwarebytes (link is to a comparison chart for free vs. paid but you can download the free version.) It seems to find things other products miss. Don't forget to update the data base before running. If you've changed nothing on your machine and if the malware scans come back clean you could also take a look at this tutorial to speed up shut down time.

thnk u all for your info, im using AVAST PRO antivirus, also have used the anti malwarbytes program, the Newest installed program other than skyrim was Sound Blaster Tactic 3D Control Panel for my new headset i bought, now the shut down time was affected before both of these and i can not for the life of me remember wht programs or games ive installed prior, ive never downloaded anything strange from popups or anything i did not know about. i seriously havent the slightest idea why my shut down time is over 3 min long before power off. i will also read and go over all the links u guys have provided to help me and i shall send some feed back.

Thnks all, have a great day!
