What AntiVirus are you using if any? I've had the same experience where certain AV software was halting the shutdown process.

In all honesty id try diconnecting from the net on your next bootup then uninstall or at least disable your AV then try shutting down as this has been a known issue. Also if you could fill in your system specs (User CP -> System Specs) so we can accurately advise that'd be great

there can be some hardware issue...please do check the compatibility and update all drivers before u use the windows 7.

It may be a Driver issue. I havethe same problem on my windows XP sadly
