Computer won't shutdown after 15 minutes...I have to hit the reset button to get a restart.

I am running the 64bit Ultimate Release Candidate

System:
Asus A8R32-MVP Deluxe
Opteron 185 OC'd to 2.75Ghz
4G OCR memory
Sapphire 1650 PCI-E video
2 green Western Digital 1Tb HD's
2 Western Digital 500Gb HD's

Haven't had any difficulties with Windows 7 other than this inability to restart...HELP!!!

this is most likely not due to your hardware, but due to the software/gadgets and also drivers you may have installed yourself. You would have to go down the list, trial and error (or by searching here for known apps that have problems with 7), and uninstalling 1 by one quite possibly. If you can boot to safe mode and it seem alot faster, no shutdown hangs, then you know your answer isnt the OS install or something registry related.

This also could be if you have a usb hub in use, or the externals making this hang. Which also could be the issue with the 3gb in drives you have there... are those external or internal?

Thanks Digger/Dwarf!

I tried the Safe Mode and it only took 90 seconds for the to Shutting Down screen to close...so I guess that's some progress. I'm wondering if it might not be the M-Audio driver I downloaded from here...I hope not but I'm going to try that first.

I also set up for Win 7 to automatically clear the Memory Paging file, but I don't believe that made any difference (I did that first and Windows did restart after a long time, but when I restarted again, it seemed as slow as ever.

Thanks again I'll report back after I look at some of the drivers.

Oh, yeah Digger, all of those drives are internal SATA 3 drives...But then I suspect you are right and this is a software problem not a hardware.
