Sidebar customization

I would like to know if It would be possible to cut the taskbar off the sides and center it in the middle. Like the mac dock.

If someone could figure this out, try and make sure it works with the small icons. (I has so many icons!) Thanks guys, keep up the good work on this windows seven stuff.

The taskbar is part of the Start that continues across the screen unless set to auto hide. Basically that's a new version of the quick launch bar also seeing the option to show the entire desktop as well as previewing multiple programs or windows open.

So far I haven't seen one method for clipping the ends off of any version's taskbar for XP, Vista, and now 7. The option to grouping icons seen in the taskbar properties is the usual method when you run out of run for having each icon side by side with others.

suprisingly rocketdock doesnt take up many resources, i have set to medium.... uses about 9k K... also have yet to have it crash on me, which... am a lil amazed

I tokk rocketdock off of 7 here while still seeing used on XP and Vista rather then the quick launch. That was done while trying to find out why it was taking a long time for Windows to shutdown or simply restart. http://rocketdock.com/

For shrinking the taskbar itself in length you would have to kind of reverse engineer the programming to see the alteration in appearance in order to have a shorter bar to begin with there. The taskbar has always reached side to side or top to bottom by design there.

That's an older 32bit deal for 2000/XP/Vista seen there to replace the annoyance of the cramped space seen on the quick launch bar. For making the attempt to install on 7 64bit you could try the right click troubleshoot compatibility option to see if you got anywhere with that.

For the 32bit 7 here it was getting in the way while much needed in XP and Vista for sure.

Neither Rocketdock or objectdock are supported on x64 by the developers. All this really means is if you try it and it doesn't work then your on your own

As Mr GRiM rightly said they do work on x64 - although that is not a guarantee that they will on any particular system.

RocketDock is a 32bit app, and 64bit systems store it in the Program Files x86 folder and run it fine with 32bit emulation.

RocketDock worked on every x64 install of mine

If you get it to work you run it. If you don't you don't. Like I was mentioning before I took it off of the 32bit 7 here while finding it useful on XP and Vista to replace the older quick launch bar seen on them.

The new taskbar seen in 7 solves the problem of having a desktop full of shortcuts without the actual need for a 3rd party addon to start with. That's the way I have to look at it.

I have just discovered rocketdock and I must admit so far it's more stable than windows 7

I now have it installed on my laptop running XP and my daughters PC running vista 32 bit and on my main running vista 64 bit and win 7 version 7057 64 bit , only one minor detail is it doesn't respect instances of notepad and World of Warcraft , otherwise it's excellent

Sorry to hear the 7057 build isn't far more stable then an addon toolbar. :sarc: The 32bit 7000 build has certainly proved it is!
