Sigmatel drivers for Inspiron 9400

Hi all,
I've searched the forum and got references to but can't find actual posts re: installing drivers for this.
Dell Inspiron 9400 laptop, dual boot of XP Home and Windows 7, install of public beta went really well. In Win7 I have a volume icon in task bar, but no audio output I can hear... Win7 is using the digital output with spidf, which I can't use, it shows no other option. I can't seem to install the original drivers (from Dell, for XP), they fail (sez they're not the right drivers for my hardware, even though I tried installing as Administrator).
In XP, device manager reports the SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC, what am I missing here? I think I'm needing to install the "legacy audio" drivers??!!

Duh... I looked at some more posts, and all I had to do was install the Vista driver for the sound card. I ran it as Administrator, and it's working fine.

Anyway, maybe this post will help some other twit like myself.

Hello,

I have a dell inspiron 1420 with the same board and sound card. when i install these drivers and restart, the audio icon shows that i dont even have any playback or recording devices available. before, my headphone jacks worked but not the speakers. por que!!!! how do i get my speakers to work!

i found another page and that driver worked for me!

Download the Sigmatel STAC 9200 series audio driver 6.1 for Windows Vista

This is not a Windows 7 Problem, I had this problem when I upgraded my laptop Dell Inspiron 1525 from Windows Vista to Windows.. After the upgrade I was able to view the picture on my samsung LCD but there was no sound
I had sigmatel Audio in my notebook
i found the driver from Intel Web site for Intel 965 Chipset
you can download it from there web site and it works

This fixed my driver issue

SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio Drivers on Windows 7

For the download use the Vista driver for your build 32 or 64.

Hi,

I also have an Inspiron 9400. I recently upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium from Windows Vista. I have no sound and have tried installing several different Sigmatel drivers and have had no luck. It seems that installing Vista drivers have worked for most people with this problem but it hasnt worked for me.

Anybody have any ideas how to fix this problem?
