I had Sim City 4 installed on my Windows 7 laptop since the very beginning of Windows 7. but recently, it won't run at all. running it in any compatibility mode doesn't work. reinstall didn't work either. troubleshooter detects an incompatible application.
installing and running on Windows XP works just fine.

what changed and how can I get it running on W7 again?

I noticed similar issues with other other programs that worked on W7 before

It could very well be because of your DX version or the fact you now have different GPU+PhysX drivers. Same thing happened to me with MOH Airborne, I used to play it just fine on 7 and last December when I tried it crashed on startup, or would not run at all.
