Solved Sims 3 has stopped working.

Did you add TS3w,exe or Ts3.exe to DEP exceptions? According to the crash dump, you have one piece of custom content, and the game crashed because it wanted Ts3w.exe and found Ts3.exe

How are you updating it? have you done all sequential updates?

I haven't heard of a special way to update. I was using the window that opens when you first open sims that asks if you want to update it.

Is there a better way?

I think I know what happened there.

When I reinstalled, I'm guessing that Ts3w.exe disappeared out of DEP because it doesn't exist in the fresh install. Then when I updated, the executable changed to Ts3w.exe and it wasn't added to DEP, thus the crash.

I'm going to try updating right now, and I'll make sure to add Ts3w.exe to DEP before starting the game, and then see what happens.

Thanks for your help peeps. I'll report back.

There is a problem with the Town Life (1.24) patch where the incremental patch was borking the game, it happened to me too. In that case it is better to use the super patch (650MB version) available here: http://www.simprograms.com/32067/the-sims-3-game-update-for-1-24/

The EADM has never caused me anything but problems, I personally use this nifty little program to patch: Mod The Sims - The Sims 3 Patch Downloader Fair warning though, it does technically break the EULA to use it... just warning you. If that makes you uncomfortable, then I'd download the patches directly from the link I provided above. They are the same links anyway.

I also really don't recommend using the Launcher... if you have any Sims3packs at all, then it loads them into memory, and then immediately dumps them when you launch the game. Much better to launch straight from TS3w.exe so Superfetch isn't dumped out. It's just a waste of memory.

I too use the Downloader recommended by Severed, it has worked wonders. All other ways to update have seemed like a pain in the arse to me, especially EADM. I haven't gotten town life, so i haven't heard or seen any borking.

Okay, so I thought I had it this morning, but no dice.

Deleted the contents of the sims folder from my documents folders so there's no saved games or cc.

I uninstalled Sims and EA with Revo, ran ccleaner and removed all traces, restarted.

Deleted everything out of DEP and turned it off, restarted.

Installed the program without EA, restarted.

Installed the super patch recommended, restarted.

Turned DEP on and made sure everything was added, restarted.

Checked that the .exe files will handle 2GB plus and they were configured correctly.

Changed my shortcuts so that they would launch the ts3w.exe.

Disabled fullscreen.

Started the game, it ran for a while, I had a shower, came back, created a character, didn't quite finish, checked out a few web pages, and then it crashed.

Same error, sims3 has stopped working.

I'll attach the crash log analysis.

Just out of interest... is the problem specifically with Create-A-Sim? does it crash while in normal gameplay? If not... I may have a solution for you.

It crashes in game also, but I've only made it into the game once. What's your idea? I'm totally out of ideas right now so I'll pretty much try anything :)

I was going to suggest you try Master Controller and the CAS replacement addon module for it. Go ahead and try it anyway...

Master Controller is here: The MasterController - Phase Four (Version 61 - Updated 2011-AUG-07) - NRaas
CAS integration (requires Master Controller) here: The MC Integration - Phase Four (Version 58 - Updated 2011-AUG-01) - NRaas
How to install Package files: Mod The Sims - Game Help:Installing Sims 3 Package Files

If nothing else helps, you could try Error Trap (from the same site), which may at least give you a bit more info on the problem. If you upload ScriptErrors (from Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 while ErrorTrap is installed) to the Error Trap thread, Twallan is very good at decyphering them.

Fair warning here, MC is a script mod, and ErrorTrap is a Core Mod. These differ from normal mods as they add new functionality to the game. It can cause problems... although it won't break anything permanently. If they cause problems you can always just rip them out again. Core Mods also follow the "Highlander Rule" (ie, there can be only one Core Mod installed at a time)

I'll try this out probably tonight when I get home. Thanks.

Should I reinstall the game again with this stuff? If it's in the links you gave, you don't need to reply. I'm just on my phone right now so I'll read later.

Nah, they are just mods. The only thing you will need to do if/when you remove them is clear your caches again.

That the controller that resets sims, cars, and rabbit holes? Cuz when sims was slowing all the way down, i thought it was the graphics. However after alot of research, i found out that i could possibly have a sim or something stuck. I tried the controller, it brought my sims back to life. It resets all sorts of stuff periodically and i don't see any slow down. works with cc.

That's Overwatch you're thinking of. Same modder though. Master Controller does that too, but you have to tell it to. OVerwatch checks for borkages and tries to fix it automatically at 3am every Sim day.

Error Trap does a full reset when you install/uninstall it. That's not a function though, it's because it's a Core Mod.

I'm working on installing this now, but I'm unclear as to whether Master Controller is supposed to increase stability? Or does it just ad configuration options?

I installed the master controller, but it's crashing more than normal now. I can't load into the character creator now.

I installed the master controller and the mod. Should I remove one?

Could this be hardware related?

Well, I think I've given up. I've found out though in the troubleshooting that I can play the game unpatched. When it's patched something is screwed up and it keeps crashing.

I've uninstalled the game and reinstalled it without EA or the launcher and it's been working for the last few hours.

Maybe I'll try again at the next patch release.

Thanks so much for all your help!

Wow, I just posted that and the game crashed to windows.

Whatever, I've put more hours into repairing this game than I've played it 20 times over.

I think I'm done with it.

So after putting hours and hours and hours into this issue, I finally decided to take my computer in to get it checked out because I have also been having bsod issues since I bought it, and I just picked it up today, and the shop replaced and upgraded my RAM, motherboard and CPU all under warranty.

I'm thinking this must have had something to do with my issues.

I'm going to try and update sims and see if it works now. I'll post back and let you know.
