Simultaneous Operating Systems

As the title says, I am curious as to how many OSes people have installed at the same time on a single machine. Currently, I have 4, but I hope to increase that to 7 by installing Ubuntu 9.10 32-bit and 64-bit and also XP Professional 32-bit (when I get round to it, that is).

I virtualize a lot of machines for testing....but I don't usually have a need for multiple versions of Windows on any 1 machine. So, for me it's usually 2 OS's. 1 Windows and 1 Linux.

I'm not a fan of the dual boot.
If I dual booted I would sit there for ten minuted trying to decide which OS to go into.
I wold also want the ability to read and write each and every partition from either OS.
Reading ext3, hfs+ from Win*.* is fairly slow - from what I understand.

Yes, you just cannot have enough OS's in today's world. I have VM Ware with Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Opensuse, XP Pro, and Vista. Oh, almost forget I have my old G5 Mac that will not run Snow Leopard Apple's lose.

My undergrad degree is comp sci - so I'm thrilled to have a unix like OS underneath all this "Aqua."

The only crashes I have had were with Firefox and Microsoft Office. However, I normally use NeoOffice; MS Office 2008 is on there in case I have a compatibility issue with a classmate.

I've had as many as seven booting in the past though I believe the boot menu will only list 6, here's where I'm at now and before anyone wonders both instances of W7 are activated with a legit key.

I still haven't bothered to figure out how to disable the IR flash.

I only have two :
Vista Home Premium 32-bits; I use it as my "secure" system. I mean, it has its Service Pack 2 and ready to roll if I need to back up my data of my second partition which has obviously :
Windows 7 RC 7100 : The RC hasn't an infinite lifespan that is why I always have Vista handy in case I didn't have to get Win7 RTM by March.

Sorry, OT, but Ted, maybe look in the cameras settings for Red Eye Removal, and turn it off. Should disable the IR flash.

I m running Windows 7 as my main OS. Besides, I run XP sp3 in VirtualBox and tried ubuntu 9.10 as a dual boot. However, I really dont feel a reason to run multiple OS besides testing purpose.

I only have one OS (windows 7) installed, but I have WHS & Windows Server 2008R2 on two local headless systems that I always have open via remote desktop.

Additionally I have four other remote 2003 - 2008R2 servers that are also always open in remote desktop.

I keep Vista for redunancy/testing, an x86 copy of 7 for testing, Ubuntu 9.10 because it's good to have a non-Windows OS and I'm keeping 7100 installed because I want to watch it die

BTW is the timerbomb in 7 controlled by the Windows clock or the BIOS clock...I wonder if you change the BIOS clock and disable auto-synchronization, would you be able to activate the bomb...

Sure, Ted. I'll let you know. It might be a while though as I am considering starting from scratch and installing the OSes into their own individual partitions. Before I do that, I need to ensure that I have got the latest Sevice Packs for them, all the latest drivers for my hardware and, in the case of XP, a floppy containing the drivers for the storage controller as I am going to be using RAID0 again. Whatever happens, it should be an interesting experience.
