even though I have only a browser on with no video. I tried re-booting it but sames problem.

It seems like some sort of fan problem because usually I can feel the heated air coming out from the side but right now I don't feel it so I guess the heat cannot escape because the fan wouldn't blow the heat out!

My warranty is over too, it's slightly over a year that I bought it.

I guess trying to fix the fan would be something that only experts can do?

I guess this cooler would be a good thing to buy? http://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master...&qid=1386516903&sr=8-2&keywords=laptop+cooler

Hi Girom, It sounds like the one of the laptops fans have gone , Buying a likely replacement is not so difficult if you go the Ebay route search out your model in "laptop spares and accessories" ,Installing is not too hard to do either .
I don't think a laptop cooler will help you much as it's not direct on the CPU or GPU :(

When you say one of the fans is gone, does that mean there are multiple fans? Are they all the same size. I do feel some hot air coming out of the vents but not as much as before. And it seems to be overheating with that burning motor smell.

Its not that hard to change fans, and would be infinitely better than ANY cooling pads could be. Here's a tutorial I found on youtube on how to disassemble a G7. It will get you to the fan(s) so you can change it/them. Just click on the link : HP PAVILION G7 take apart video, disassemble, how to open disassembly - YouTube

First though, have you tried a system restore to a point before this started? And YES, without cooling you run a serious risk of damage to your system. I personally would not trust that usb fan.

That looks like a complex job to get to the fan. Try blowing out the vents with some canned compressed air too. Put the vents up to your ear, you should be able to hear the fan if it is running.
