hi guys,

i am really at my wit's end figuring how to solve my dilemma.. i have an asus eee pc with windows xp installed.. anyway, a couple of months ago, i installed windows 7 professional.. it was working well, until about a month ago, i had problems with a mouse or the touchpad.. what would happen would be that when i open windows explorer, and single click on a folder, it would automatically rename it.. ditto with the drives, on desktop icons.. it is really frustrating.. then my mouse click would get stuck on when i scroll down pages while surfing..

really, i have tried everything, anti virus, windows explorer folder options, registry cleaners, anti malware programmes.. i guess i am short of re installing windows xp and windows 7..

really i need help and advice.. would appreciate someone out there who would help a windows 7 user about to drown in single click/ mouse stuck problems.. thanks!

Welcome!

How often does this happen? Is this going on all the time, or does it occur randomly?

I suggest a repair install.

Hello Welcome to SF !!

I would also recommend to check the Mouse setting under Control Panel. Also under Mouse Hardware properties just uninstall the Driver and reboot and reinstall it and see whether that makes any difference. Create a New Windows Profile and see whether it's doing the same in that profile.

Hope this helps,
Captain

If you can transfer the installation files from the DVD or ISO to your hard drive, you can run the setup.exe files.

I'm sure you have a desktop; you can transfer the files over using your network.

Hi Chuck

I have the exact same problem with my LG R580 laptop, whenever I click on anything in windows it will rename it with just a single click. I have both Vista and windows 7 on this laptop and it happens on both of them, I also scanned in both OS, and no virus, so I can only assume this is a hardware issue with my keyboard cuz I also tested this with 3 different mouse and my touch pad.

Have you a solution to this problem yet?

Hello,

Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling the mouse drivers?

hi thanks for the reply, I tried using a USB keyboard and it worked fine, so I narrowed it down to the keyboard............. this is such a pain in the ass
