Hi
I'm using W7 Ultimate 64 bit and I could not start Sisoft Sandra Lite 2011a (17.20).
The process of installation finishes without any problems, but when I run Sisoft Sandra nothing happens. It shows start screen, but after that nothing happens. When I click on Sisoft Sandra window, it said "Program Not responding" In task manager I see 2 processes connected with Sisoft Sandra.
Any advice.
Thanks

Welcome to Seven Forums ehasanov. I have been using Sisift Sandra for years, and have had this happen twice when updating to the newest version. Going back to the previous version always worked again, and then when the next new version came out, it again worked. So twice I ended up leapfrogging a version. BTW I currently am using Sandra Lite 2011 (17.20) with no problems, so it is hit or miss depending on individual systems.

You can try the previous version, or any version before that.

Try right clicking the program and "run as administrator". No guarantees, but I've seen some programs need that elevated status to work.

Windows 7 update killed Sandra

Hi

I just thought I would chime in here. I know how misery loves company. ;)

I have been working on installing a SSD as the boot drive for my Windows 7 system. This involved setting the system up to use AHCI, so I had to do some fancy stepping since my system was installed using IDE.

I used Sandra to bench my system. Everything was fine until I let the system update on Tuesday. Now suddenly Sandra won't work any more.

Go figure.

I'm still using it on x64 right now, updated to new version yesterday. It's possible something is blocking it connecting to the server (it wants to update that price engine part). You might try specifically adding it to the exceptions list of your firewall or AV product. You might try searching their knowledgebase:

searched their FAQ: nothing
contacted their support: they adviced an update: did that: changed nothing
opened the firewall to this software: no change
reinstalled it with the installation program using Admin rights: no change
disabled price engine and rank engine: no change
added exception to AVG: no change

no joy so far:

I had Sandra 2009, Sandra 2010 before and never any problem. Sandra 2011 does not seem to like me...I guess I have to say bye bye love

It's not a user problem, it's a programmer problem.

I have also tried all the same steps to get Sandra working but no joy.

This is nothing the users have done. As I mentioned, I had Sandra working perfectly on my new SSD for a couple of days before allowing Windows 7 pro 64 bit to perform an update from Microsoft. The next time I tried Sandra it wouldn't load, and nothing I tried has gotten it working. I have the Windows firewall disabled and use the hardware firewall in my router so it has nothing to do with firewall settings.

Since there is other software I can use for the benching it's not a big deal for me, however seeing issues like this doesn't fill me with confidence regarding Sandra, and if I do ever decide to purchase software for testing/benchmarking systems this would weigh heavily against Sandra. Googling the issue confirms that it is a common occurrence with this software.

Try installing the full version of .net 4.0 from here;

Download .NET Framework

This worked for me and allowed three programs to start working again after the last Windows update killed them. Apparently it has to do with the 4.0 only being a client release, and not a full .net install.

I got a couple more updates after installing, but the programs still work properly, and Sandra works again. ( The other two were dnGrep, which nearly had me tearing my hair out!!! And a plugin for QTTabBar called QT Honey). There were no error messages, they simply stopped working. Then I discovered that the plugin required the FULL .net 4.0, and it worked, tried the others as well, because all this happened on the same day after a Windows update, and they all worked again.

I recently downloaded v2011.1.17.25 on a 32bit system and it's working fine. There's a newer update .30 but I think I'll decline.

I have already installed the full .NET framework because some other applications I use require it. However, I will give it a try just in case. I suppose something could have been overwritten or changed that I'm not aware of.

Edit: I have checked and I have the latest full version of .NET installed. However, just in case, I reinstalled .net again and it did not help Sandra at all.

It just freezes on the "Welcome to SiSoftware SANDRA" screen. If I click on it a few times I get an error message: "SiSoftware Sandra management console not responding" with the option to wait or end the program.

I have used the free version of Sandra over the years every time I needed to bench my computers. Up until now I have never had a problem. Funny how it broke on the last Windows update.

Windows 7 Pro 64.
