size of the video card

The onboard Radeon 4200 doesnt have the juice i need to play games. So i'm looking into getting the Radeon HD 5770. The only problem is i'm not sure if it will fit on my motherboard due to the Onboard video heatsink being right at the end of the PCI express slot.

Do yall think it will fit?

You can't really tell from those pictures. Is the plane of the heatsink above, below or parallel to the plane of the top of the pci-e slot?

If it's above, you're going to have a problem. If it's equal to or below, then you'll be fine.

I would suggest taking a plastic 6 inch ruler or if you have like I do a 6 in level, turn off and un plug your system Then lay the level or ruler on top of your PCI-e slot and make sure you have Clarence. You could use a pencil to just something straight not metal and long enough to check Clarence. Fabe edit I"d like to think the engineers took into consideration the Length of the new video cards when they setup the layout of the board. I don't suspect you'll have any issuers

i'll try that once i get enough to buy it, then if it wont fit i'll look for something else

There is a very nice view of the mobo in this video on youtube YouTube - #41 - Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-UD2H AM3 Motherboard Unboxing Video From the view in the video I do not believe you would have a problem with the 5770 fitting since there is some banter there about the 5970 being accepted by the mobo. In fact the biggest complaint any of the owners have is the larger GPU's tend to cover the inner most SATA connections so that would be a consideration for you.

You shouldn't have a problem -- it will be close, but is should fit without hitting the heatsink (couple of millimeters clearance on my board - Gigabyte 790X-UD4P). The pic you posted looks like the same heatsink that is on my board
