Solved Skype broken after upgrade?

I fired up Skype this afternoon and it immediately launched into an upgrade. When the new version came up, it declared 'Skype Home unavailable'. All contacts were shown as offline, including the Call Testing Service, which is always available usually. The firewall is set to allow Skype. In any case, this morning, before the upgrade, it was working fine...

Anyone else having this issue, or know anything about it?

Just opened Skype and it did update. But all working. Did you restart PC? Change DNS? Reinstall Skype perhaps?

Yes rebooted. Yes tried a fresh clean install. Not sure what you mean by 'change DNS'. Anyway, still no go. Same exact symptoms on my Windows 10 installation.

Yeah, I understand what you are saying but doesn't hurt to check
Also make sure your firewall is not blocking (disable etc)

Firewall was the first thing I checked, as I mentioned in my OP. I will try fiddling with DNS servers in the morning, but don't think that's the problem... as you say, can't hurt to try.

I have discovered that the new Skype will report 'Skype Home unavailable' and not report contact availability accurately unless you are online and available. The minute you make yourself available (or even invisible), Skype Home shows up and you can see the status of your contacts. This is new behavior, and it caught me by surprise - I like to stay offline unless i'm actually going to make a call. Oh well, now I know...
