skype cpu problem

I have been running skype on my computer, windows seve home pro 64 bit, for about a few months now, and I noticed my computer slowing down, checked task manager and saw my cpu usage at about 100%, with "skypepm.exe *32" (description = skype extras manager) running the show. I simply deleted the entry, and everything back to normal, is there a simpilar wat to fix the problem.​

I do not know why, but skype has a *32 next to the entry in task manager, that must mean that I have a 32 bit program installed.​

Also, when I open skype for the first time after a reboot, I get a window saying: skype extras manager has stopped working", as far as I'm concered it can shut down for ever since I do not have extras installed.​

i googled the problem, but all related problems that i found were from 2006 and earlier.

Another problem, still not sure if it is related, when I speak with one specific friend, many times, not always, my sound gets messed up, and the only way getting it back is by rebooting.​

Does all this suggest to reinstall a different version of skype ?​

Other than the above it realy works great.​
