sleep option gone, mic not working, other

Dell laptop running Windows 7. Always had option to put computer in sleep mode when closing cover. That option is gone. Also, mic stopped working. And when turning on computer, display has changed - everything is large, and need to go back in and reset resolution. Tried going back two weeks in a system restore. No luck.
