Sleep/Restart Problem

I installed Windows 7 Ultimate about two weeks ago and after a lot of googling through forums and stuff I've fixed pretty much all but three problems:

1) Whenever I try to restart my computer it will just hang at the screen that says 'logging off' until I manually pull the power cord out. I've tried waiting upwards of half an hour and it refuses to restart.

2) The same problem will sometimes happen when shutting down, but not nearly as often.

3) Whenever I put my laptop into sleep mode, it refuses to wake up, staring at me with a black screen.

I can tell you that I do have the latest graphics card and I'm pretty sure it's a problem with BIOS, but I'm just not sure how to change it. I followed the instructions here:

http://www.vistax64.com/tutori.....blems.html

in step 3. I know it's for vista, but a lot of people said it should work the same on 7 as well. Anyhow, It tells me that my computer doesn't support those sleep modes for S1 and S3. That's fine, because the next instruction is to enter BIOS power management mode to change this, but I have no clue how to get there because when I press F10 in the startup menu, there is no option for power management. Help?

Hi and welcome.
Have you tried turning off Hybernation mode?
This is a large file that is formed before and after Hybernation. I for one don't need it so I turned it off.
Here are the 2 commands to turn OFF and back ON if you want to try it.

Start CMD as Adminstrator

Type to turn off
powercfg -h off

To turn back on
powercfg -h on

Don't forget to reboot after each command.
Let us know what you think.
