SLI Issues

Got a new GTS 250 today to run SLI. Installed it and started up the pc. The fans came on and pc boots up. Went into NVIDIA control panel to enable SLI and the selection wasn't there. So I went to see if windows is seeing it. Nope nothing. Things I did:

1. Took both cards out, and put new card in PCI-E 1(top slot) started the pc and it worked great.
2. Put the old card in the 2nd slot installed the bridge and started the pc. No SLI
3. Took the new card out of top slot, moved the monitor to the bottom card and started the pc. Worked great.
4. Reinstalled drivers still no SLI.
5. Swapped PCI-e power plugs to verify both worked. They are good.
6. Checked to make sure the bridge was seated.

Does the little window pop up like in XP saying that you are capable of SLI? If it does I never got it. There is no where in my bios that I could find that enables the SLI. The slot obviously works. Only thing I can think of is that the PS is overworked. Rivatuner was seeing two GPU's but the core clock and memory were reading almost 0 instead of 738/1152Mhz like it was supposed to be reading. Any ideas? I have furmark. Is there a way to read power output?

Yea you should get a popup saying you're running an SLI capable system.

Have you got the SLI bridge connected?

Try updating your BIOS too if it's not the latest version. I recall when I had my 570 motherboard I needed to update BIOS when I put SLI on it. I remember seeing in Device Manager, a yellow triangle next to the 2nd graphic card, which I think was something to do with power to the card and was causing it not to allow SLI. Updating the BIOS fixed it.

It's not even showing the 2nd card in device manager. I'll see about the latest update but I think I have the last release. Not sure about the Nforce drivers though. I'll look into that. The bridge was installed and I verified that it was seated. It could be defective though. Don't have a 2nd one to test.

Yeah that's it. I have Rev 2.0 though. I'll update my specs. Just did it off the top of my head at work . I updated my bios/chipset drivers last night. I had an SLI setup with 2 320 MB 8800 GTS's on this board with XP but one cooked a while back. The cooler died while I was asleep. I haven't had the chance to install the 2nd card yet.

Woot!! I did a series of things that I thought about and got it fixed. I uninstalled the drivers, installed the cards, reinstalled the drivers after reloading bios (same version as previous) and reloading chipset drivers. It is now peachy. Cheers for the help. I really think it was the chipset drivers that did it. I don't recall if they were installed when I did the 7 upgrade.
