SlideShow Gadget Database

I realize Gadget has been replaced by various apps, but I still like SlideShow. It's been a few years since I set it up, and don't recall specific details. I have several questions:
1) Where is the SlideShow database located? The options window displays Folder: "Picture Library", but it is nowhere to be found...I suspect it may be "virtual," i.e., set up by scanning C:/Users/.../My Pictures, whatever.
2) In particular, where can I find the "queue" containing links to the sequentially displayed images?
3) How was this "queue" originally created? By scanning and including links to any and all image filetypes (e.g., jpg, jpeg, gif, bmp, etc.)?
4) Is there available online, a "manual/flowchart" that describes the function of the various .js files in the SlideShow.Gadget folder?
5) Are there tools available from MS to aid migration of various Gadget tools over to whatever apps that replace their function?
TIA

Pictures library is C:/Users/.../My Pictures or Pictures. It uses the pictures from that folder. There really is no separate queue location.

I believe the gadget just goes to the Pictures folder and gets the next image.

I know of no manual, etc but if you know JAVA, you can determine most of what is going on.

I do not believe there are any replacement apps available.

I still use gadgets, even in Windows 8.1 and 10.

pbcopter, thanks for you quick reply. After "groping around," I finally recalled how I set up Gadgets years ago...the setup is not very user friendly, but it works well once installed. Why MS discontinued support escapes me. There's an almost invisible "menu bar" on each image, and if you click "view" you can display the entire link to the image file. What I did years ago is simply put my interesting photos in a single directory. It's still not clear what the entire array of extensions the gadget recognizes as images. BTW, in the "view popup," there's always an "unspecified error" comment...weird.
