Slipstream Windows 7/SP1 ISO W/ All Updates

I have taken to installing Windows 10 via a Fresh Install of Win7 as a precursor to installing Win10

The biggest problem has been doing an FnR (Format & Reinstall) of Windows 7 as a precursor to installing Windows 10...

Oh my gods, the Windows 7 UPDATE Server takes FOREVER!!

So, what I want to do is take my standard AIO Windows 7/SP1 ISO and add only the updates necessary to facilitate a Windows 10 install. I am hoping this will also facilitate the Win10 install. I had a customer's computer that I was upgrading for them and it sat on the Windows 10 Install screen for 6 hours.. I kid you not!!

I think it took so long because it had to update the Win7 Install first... Did I mention that the Win7 Update Server takes forever!??

Anywho, I was hoping someone could help me out with the SlipStream.. All the docs and guides and tuts I have read start with a virgin Win7 disk and explains how to do the SP1 etc etc and it hopelessly confuses
me... I just want to start from the Win7/SP1 AIO and add the updates..

Any assistance would be appreciated...

I don't think you need a completely updated Windows 7 to do the 10 upgrade -

As a test, I installed Windows 7 SP1 in a VM (and activated it), when I clicked updates in control panel it first downloads some kinda file necessary for updates, then I stopped it there and didn't bother with the 200 1GB of updates. I double checked it was activated, and upgraded to Windows 10 using the media creation tool from here

The upgrade went OK and was activated. At this point, once your hardware is registered at Microsoft, you can do a clean install of 10 using the iso downloaded previously and it will activate because MS recognize your mobo etc. I did this as an experiment to see if It was possible to do a 7 >> 10 install without all the updates, and it seems you can (must have SP1 and be activated - in 'grace period' doesn't work - tested that also. AFAIK updates must be set to auto).

I did this in a VM so YMMV, but you'll prob be OK.

I do know (or am pretty sure AAR) that you have to have IEX 11 to update to Win10...

Other that, your advice sounds good.. I'll give it a try..
