My computer is approx 6yo and is running OEM windows 7 pro. Couple days ago "This copy of windows is not genuine" message appeared. Nothing has changed on computer. I can not activate it. If I run slmgr -rearm I get error message 0xC004FE00. Ran Malware scan with Malwarebytes, Adwcleaner, Junkware removal tool - all clean. Ran virus scan with installed and functioning Mcafee Endpoint.

Hi Glen,

please run KB971033,

Your comp appears to be Activated but NOT registered, the above is the standard fix.

Reboot rerun the tool and the current problems, should be gone

File Mismatch: C:\Windows\system32\wat\watadminsvc.exe[Hr = 0x80070003]
File Mismatch: C:\Windows\system32\wat\npwatweb.dll[Hr = 0x80070003]

File Mismatch: C:\Windows\system32\wat\watweb.dll[Hr = 0x80070003]

ActiveX: Not Registered - 0x80040154

and the non-genuine notification.

The slmgr syntax is wrong thats why that didnt work, / not -, and you've still got 5 lives

slmgr /rearm

not important but did you use the COA sticker key to try and fix the problem.

Hi Glen,

We've moved on a bit, however one of the causes of this error code is multiple users
If you purchased this key - then its likely been sold to others.

As you didnt answer my question about the COA
Can you confirm a couple of things
The COA sticker was affixed to your comp when you bought it
The key currently in use is from the COA sticker and correct --- DONT post it
you can check it using this program -Belarc
Products: Belarc Advisor
can you remember when you first used that key; the original was 74T2M-DKDBC-788W3-H689G-6P6GT

Did you install any software, including update(s), on the 24/25.

Looking at the specs for your tower it did come with W7 pro, so im more inclined to think its a software/Bios related
Updating your bios might resolve it, yours is out of date.

Roy

Roy,

Problem solved! I tried changing the product key (entering same key on COA) and it worked. I had tried this before with no luck. Perhaps reinstalling KB971033 helped.

Thank you so much for your help and quick response! Very much appreciated!
