This probably has nothing to do with Windows 7, but I thought someone on this forum would know.

When in a text editor like on this forum or on Microsoft word and when I delete and hold it down it will be really slow. Characters would only delete every half a second no matter what.

Anyone know what causes this? When I restart my computer it's back to normal, but if I leave it on for 10+ hours it happens again.

In control Panel, All Control Panel Items, open keyboard.

Check there to see you repeat rate and increase if needed.

When the problem happens , check to see if it was changed.
If so, there might be some application or keyboard driver taking over.

Hmm, when I opened the keyboard options it was already at the fastest keyboard repeat rate and the problem was still there.

I changed for slowest repeat rate, applied, and then changed it to fastest repeat rate and applied and that fixed it.

Could this problem happen because I unplug the keyboard a lot and its changing the settings?

EDIT: Yeah, unplugging and replugging the keyboard made the problem reappear.

there is a definite glitch with it reverting to some "default" repeat rate. the solution (by which i mean work-around) is to reapply the current settings. glad to see someone else has this problem. It seems to happen to me after a suspend/resume sometimes (maybe all the time?). For anyone experiencing it, report OS/vendor . I am running win7x64 7057 (although it has been here since build 7000), dell latitude e6500. see if we can't pin it down.
