Slow Internet causes?

I have a 6mb internet(yea it sucks) and its caps around 700kB/s when im downloading things.

just these few days I noticed my internet was a bit slower, downloads are capping at 500kB/s and games have a noticeable 30-40 ping increase

-I check the DHCP on my router and im the only computer using the net
-I used netstat to check if there are any hidden connections but there isnt
-Speedtest.net's result shows me that I have a 4mb internet, which im sure the last time i did it it was 6, but upload speed is as i remembered
-It lasted for at least 2 days, meaning its not a spike

What could be the causes for my slower internet?

it could be a problem on your isp end, contact them to see if they are doing any work in your area,
my speeds constantly fluctuate, ive given up trying to solve it, my 160MB trial connection is now 42MB on a wired connection to the desktop and 38MB on the wifi connection to the laptop.
