I have a problem with one machine in my network.

Machine is AsRock ION 330 nettop (Atom procesor etc.) with USB wireless N card from linksys (i also have Asus RT-N16 router).

Problem is that network file copy speed is very slow (max 500kb/s).

I have tried inserting USB wireless adapter into another laptop and put laptop into approximately same position that nettop is. Speeds are around 2mb/s then, so wireless is not a problem. Laptop's internal card was of course turned off then.

Machine have enough power (I'm able to transfer files around internal disks with 16 mb/s).

Any idea, what did i screw up to get so slow speed?

Could be IPv6, homegroup, weak signal, firewall, AV, etc.

Can we get more info?

Firewall/AV is ESET Smart Security. I have same one on all other machines and it works fine.

Weak signal is not problem, because same USB receiver on same place works fine with another laptop

What do you mean by IPv6? I have it enabled on all machines, but not using.

Homegroup is connected and running

Just tell what info you want.

Av/eset firewall was the culprit in my case

Hi, I faced a similar problem, and i find out ESET firewall was causing the problem.
Whenever i turned my firewall off the copying would take place at max speed but with firewall enabled it would take ages to copy even a small file.

I hope there must be some fine tweaking in eset firewall settings to eliminate the problem but i haven't probed it yet.
If you could find the solution please do post it

Problem resolved!

It was crap wireless card that linksys advertised as N, but it was actually their RangePlus technology.
