SM Bus Controller not found

Hi everyone,

First post so i might be a little long winded..

Brand new laptop and it had windows 8 on it.
Samsung Series 3 NP300E5E-A01US

I could not stand windows 8 anymore so I downgraded it to windows 7 home premiumx64

I have found most of the drivers (the Correct ones I believe) and system is running pretty well.
Only driver I have not been able to successfully locate is the SM Bus Controller.

I already have downloaded the Chipset driver for the laptop, Intel(r) HD graphics 4000
I also have visited samsung's website and downloaded all the drivers listed to series 3 laptops as well.

Hi Solrift, Welcome to the forums , Redownload and reinstall the chipset driver, the smbus controller is part of the chipset drivers , Itis not unknown to have a slightly corrupted download

I have downloaded the drivers from intel's site and after I extract them all and try to run the set up I get an Error.

"This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing this software."

I cant help but think I have the wrong driver... else something is wrong that is beyond me.
I downloaded Win64_152815 driver..

Hi there .... Did you do what Pebbly has suggested in post 2 ? All the Drivers you need are obtainable from the Samsung web site .... I suggest you download the chipset Driver and also the Intel(r) HD graphics 4000 Driver for Windows 8.

I took windows 8 off the hard drive and installed Windows 7. What would the point of downloading windows 8 drivers be?

Did you download Windows 7 Drivers from the Samsung site ? ..... If so are you still having errors ? The reason i said Windows 8 Drivers is because they usually work with Windows 7.

I just got off samsungs website and it says there are no drivers for download for my series 3 model

I have a Samsung Series 3 NP300E5E-A01US and I cant seem to get anywhere in regards to drivers on samsungs website

Yes i did think it was recent .... That is why i think there are no Drivers on the site yet .... But lets wait and see what Samsung has to say .... Dont suppose you made any Recovery Discs ? Or maybe you got a Disc with it ? Samsung used to provide Discs ... Not sure if they do now though .

They did not provide any discs at all but the first thing I did before I began tinkering was to make a recovery disc back to windows 8

The Drivers might be on that Disc then ..... Try and see if you can get them to Install from there maybe more than one Disc> Find the one that has Drivers in it .

Not sure if I understand what you are asking. I created the recovery disc myself, its not from samsung.

Also I am at work and do not have the disc with me.

If it is a Recovery Disc and not a backup ..... It should have the Drivers on it .... When you get home insert it into the DVD drive and see if the Drivers are there .

Fair enough .... You having stated that you had only made one Disc.... Makes me think it could just be a Repair Disc though.

After more digging through intel's website I may have found it.

Thought I would share before I went in and did anything. A second opinion is always welcomed

IMO I cant see it working ..... Take it you don't have a Recovery Disc ?
