Since I never read any manuals, I am often not aware of the small tricks of the trade. I just discovered a couple of small tricks - that most of you probably know. LOL - But for those who don't know,I like to share them.

1. When the system freezes and you cannot move the cursor, I used to hit the power-off button and then restart the system. The little trick is to press the Start button on the keyboard and navigate with the right arrow key to where the picture shows:

As you can see, there is always one letter underlined for the various actions in the pop-up window - e.g. "R" for Restart. Just hit that letter and the action will be performed.

2. If you open a window and it is not maximized, grab the window at the top blue frame and bump it against the top of the screen. It will automatically maximize.

Good Tips -- I really like Number One about when the system freezes. Wish I had known that a week ago.

In addition, some aero snap shortcuts,
Windows key+left arrow-> move the active window to the left .
Win key+right arrow to move it to the right.
Win key+ Up arrow -> maximize the current window.
Win key+down arrow -> restore the active window.

Its easier than dragging the window with the mouse to the sides.

And for those of you wondering why Wolfgang's original image has 'sleep' instead of 'shut down' or anything else... there's a tutorial for that

do you mean 'the windows key on your keyboard'? you just need to press that, then the right key twice, then up and down to your heart's content.

'press the start button' sounds too much like clicking the start orb, which you can't do if you can't move the cursor.

To number one you could also do this: WIN KEY + D then ALT + F4 will bring up a dialog which will give you those options to shutdown, restart, etc.

That is neat too. Thank you for sharing. The one thing I wonder though is if I can get to "Restart" when the cursor is frozen - my default is set to sleep.
